Put three music icons – strong women with voices and personalities to match – in a studio and see what happens. Let’s just call them Anika, Boh & Hollie because you all know who they are.

Why did it happen? One of the three friends suggested it over a bottle of wine one day, pondering what might come of it. The conversation kept rolling until, around Boh’s kitchen table, it turned into song – inevitable really, because Anika, Boh & Hollie are all songbirds at heart.

The songs kept flowing. Along with the wine and the laughter. After a few of these sessions, they knew what was brewing was worth putting down on tape, to see where the next step might be.

What does it sound like? Well it’s exactly what you’d hope and then some – beautifully crafted melodies, big, soaring vocals, glorious harmonies – and, according to Anika, “it is magic and unique and it’s something we’re all just really proud to put our names to”.

Boh took the lead on first single “Be Mine” and Hollie is to the fore on second single “Slipping Away” but all three voices feature strongly, the harmonies are seamless and natural. “Being in this creative process with Anika and Hollie is what being a musician is all about, vibing off each other, exploring the dynamics in our relationship” says Boh.

There will be a third single in 2012 to be followed by a debut album in February 2013.
But what Anika, Boh & Hollie are most excited about is playing together live. On stage together, singing their songs together. They have just completed the hugely successful Classic Hits Church Tour of New Zealand, receiving rave reviews and standing ovations wherever they went. As Hollie says “we are really loving sharing what we’ve created and to seeing it come together on stage with an audience. That’s what its really all about for us”.

It sounds like fun. It is fun. These are high-spirited women connecting to the muse. The band name might be the sum of their parts but the music is something more.
